The internal discipline I was anxious about turned out to be something much more practical. To build a routine by defining a daily schedule seems to be working. As it is too hot to work in the morning at my open air studio I embraced the limitation and turned it into liberation.
I wake up early as usual and I go for a walk at the Castle’s gardens. The perfume of the flowers is very pleasant. I found out today that walking a bit further there is the castle’s pond and its water lilies. After my walk I come back home through the castle. I like that I am walking to exercise and not only for a touristical visit. Then, after 2 pm I can start working. Yes, it is working not playing. I tried to convince myself that art is more like play than work then I concluded that it is not truth, at least not for me. I always loved to work and now it is even more engaging as I am loving what I work on. Today, I finished my first painting of my stay here. Tomorrow, I will started another one. My gessoed canvas is drying ‘al fresco,’ with the stars.
